your ranunculus are redonkulus

...and a weekend recap, three days late.

oh, where does the time go and how is it already weds-day?!

when last we met, twas earth day. i celebrated by having urbn pizza and reeediculous amounts of alcohol. i don't even remember walking home but i know it happened because people told me stories about it. i even put my pajamas on and folded my party clothes. i do recall making friends with some chick at a bar (I believe her name was LeAnne, Hiii LeAnne! I hope i'm spelling your name correctly. I worry about those things.) and that she told me it was ok to pull her cousin's hair. so i did, repeatedly. and she was right! cousin did not even notice. ah, things.

here's a picture from that night.
shown at about half-drunk.

if the hank were any hotter, he'd be the sun. IMO.

Saturday was my family's version of easter, per the usual. we do holidays on unholidays so that everyone can go see the in-laws or stay at home in their pajamas while not dealing with traffic on the actual holiday. we continued our age-old tradition of cracking eggs full of confetti on each other's heads. pretty much the main reason for celebrating easter. oh, well, that and chocolat. jesus loves chocolat. he told me, in 7th grade when i sat next to him in class. swear, this kid was always eating chocolat. did you notice, i'm french now.

sidewalk, dyed egg shells, confetti and crepe paper.  crepe! i'm so seriously french.

Sunday was the farmer's market and loooong walks. We were so pooped after that we took a 10 hour nap, on the couch, with food and television. my big accomplishment that day = ranunculus. lots of them.

from the farmer to my chico bag.

from my chico bag to a vase. making our old shutters look just plain fancy.

close-up now.

Oh, and i forgot to mention that also included in our 10 hour laaazy day...the printed word! yep, i read 3 local newspapers, from front to back. made me want to write for them but nothing new there. i even documented it with my midday snack and the picture of a scary mommie queerest

mmm, don't those clementines look delicious?? NOT from the farmers market.

ok, i think that's it. i'm pooped.
btw, hank came up with today's blog title. he said it to me in passing and i liked it. shared property, it's cool.

Happy Earth Day, Earthlings!

this happens to be the very same stock image I used last year on Earth Day - evidence that I like to recycle! Green alert!

Oh, glorious earth.

Can we count the awesomesness that is today?! Perfect.

1. It's Friday! End of the week, almost the weekend, so darn close I can barely concentrate on all the mundane tasks ahead of me. Weekend, I love you.

2. It's sunny! After a gloomy, dreary week of gloom and drear, light has broken through. Sun gods look upon us and keep us. Amen.

3. King beds make life better. How do I know this? Well, the Hank and I slept on our brand new, highly attractive, doubly soft, triply large king bed last night. I don't even think we passed each other in the night - AND  Easton found a spot in between us and he, as well, did not move at all. It's all pretty impressive and wonderful. I woke up with zero back aches and think I'm even skinnier and wiser today. Ah, the magic of comfort and space. Clearly, it's having some kind of effect - I'm writing in sentence case people!

4. It's Earth Day!! Why is this awesome you may ask...well, I've got a few reasons to give, oh yes I do.

  • Google is prettier today than yesterday.
  • Starbucks is giving away free coffee - BYOMug.
  • J.Crew is having a factory sale and they told me to tell my friends! I don't think this has anything to do with earth day but it's still great news.
  • According to some Patch writer from Cinnaminson, NJ (how freaking cool is that township name!), more than 1 billion people are celebrating Earth Day around the world! And really, in the end, don't we all just want to be like everyone else? Sheep, I say! So yes, find comfort or inspiration in that.

Note: Patch does not even compare to Main Street Connect. Patch is just some doctor Robin Williams played back in the 90s! Main Street Connect nurtures the human bond, connecting people with raw and honest information, from town to town. Just sayin'...ya know, in case they're hiring. HI! pick me.

the one. the only.
patch.

That's it for now. I think it's enough awesome to make a flower grow.

celebrating all the way on the other side of the country

for easton's birthday, we did a few special things. we let him stay in his crate all day while we were at work...ahem. then we took him for a long run - which is saying a lot for me, ya know, after my incident, but all was well and i ran the entire 2 miles. (thanks again to mapmyrun.com) and now, we're all back at home, without any new cuts or scrapes. hank is making pasta for dinner and after, we'll enjoy some easter (spring festival? am i pc enough, yet?) chocolate goodies that came in the mail today from my father-in-law! how lucky are we?!?
note: that is the first time i've ever said/written father-in-law. like!

we love being kids.

a few weekends ago, one of my favorite ladybirds asked if i would take some photos of her and her brother to send to their parents. i gladly accepted the challenge and while i'm sure their being so darn cute helps, i quite love how these turned out.

and to end on a colorful note. greetings from the old town general candy store.

tie your shoelaces [warning, there will be blood]

Running.

Wiki says  It is simply defined in athletics terms as a gait in which at regular points during the running cycle both feet are off the ground.

To trip.

Webster says to catch the foot against something so as to stumble.

I did both today.

I've been running in the mornings, before work. It's been really nice, especially for Easton. He's just prancing around, smiling at everyone, wagging his tail. Today was an exceptionally good run; I had tons of energy and was extending the distance to 2 miles. 2 miles is a lot to this couch surfer. Then, at .73 miles (thanks mapmyrun.com!) I smiled and waved at a neighbor walking to her car and as she smiled back, I caught my foot on some uneven sidewalk and most definitely stumbled. Stumbled isn't really the right word, I fucking fell. Fell, fell, fell.

I did what any non-runner would do, I used BOTH my hands and BOTH my knees to catch myself and save my face from the floor. And then, I just sat there. Sat and waited until I could even attempt to get up. And all the while, Easton is sitting on me and licking my face and hands, showing his gratitude for coming down to his level to wrestle. Dog hoppin' and tail waggin' all over the place.

And as if sitting on my ass, with blood dripping off my hand, defeat plastered on my face, tears welling up, and a dog pouncing all over me, was not enough, I have the neighbor girl and her mom sitting in their car, staring at me, waiting patiently to make sure I can stand and walk before going about their day. So, I bucked up, stood up, and hobbled away.

I'm thinking I need to work on my gait.
